Case Study: The New Information System of the Czech Golf Federation

EXON developed a modern information system for the Czech Golf Federation (CGF), replacing a solution that was nearly twenty years old. Built on current technologies, the new platform delivers a significantly higher level of security, easier maintenance, and improved user comfort. The goal was not a revolution, but a careful modernization that simplifies everyday work for the federation and clubs.

Project summary of the CGF information system

The project included more than 7,000 hours of work, and the new system covers the full scope of golf governance— from registering players and clubs to managing tournaments, rankings, and handicaps, as well as the agendas for referees, coaches, and courses. EXON also built a robust server infrastructure that powers CGF public websites, the Golfer’s Personal Portal, and the mobile application.

A key intent was modernization without unnecessary complexity—the system adapts to how users work, enables fast search and filtering, provides a clear interface, and simplifies essential processes (for example, online scoring or creating starting lists).

Security, API, and data management

The system processes personal data of tens of thousands of players and officials, so maximum emphasis was placed on security and access control. It includes more than 120 permission levels and a new modern API layer with nearly 130 methods, enabling secure integration of additional applications (the CGF mobile app, the Golfer’s Personal Portal, or third-party club systems).

The project also included migration of the complete historical database—more than 180 million golf records, including 144,000 tournaments, nearly 250,000 people, and over one million historical memberships. This ensured that the full modern history of Czech golf was transferred into the new system.

Benefits for CGF, clubs, and players

The new information system gives CGF and clubs a stable, secure, and modern platform for managing golf in the Czech Republic. It also creates room for further digitalization, including the use of AI tools (predictive analytics, data dashboards, a support chatbot, etc.). For players, it brings clearer game statistics, more detailed tournament information, and easier handicap management.
